The last decade farmers have adopted new technologies that allow them to map yields during harvest, develop grid maps from soil testing, log tractor and sprayer passes with GPS equipment and maybe take flyover maps with unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones.

Putting data together to create actionable plans is challenging. However, a new breed of technology firms is helping farmers aggregate the data they already have on hand and enhance that data with insights to help growers be more efficient. And for the most part, all of this data can be easily managed on a smartphone or tablet device, making updates and access both portable and instantaneous.
